Congleton
Cycling Club
Cheshire Club Run and AGM
Last
Sunday (2nd), eight members participated in the 60-mile Club Run to The
Venetian Café on the Middlewich Canal near Poole in pleasantly mild conditions.
Couples: Linda and Karl Austin, Denise and David Hurst, Georgina and Bob Norton
were accompanied by Steven Jackson and Peter Hayhurst. The outward journey was
via Alsager, Barthomley then Shaley Bank over to Wrinehill, Wybunbury and
Nantwich. The return route was via Winsford, Clive Green, Wimboldsley, Sandbach,
Bradwall and Brereton.
The
recent AGM was well-attended. The Committee Members were re-elected with only
one modification. Denise Hurst handed-over one of her positions – that of
Membership Secretary – to Tony Elliott, who took this on in addition to his
positions of Treasurer and Webmaster. Our President, Stephen Sebire, and the
Vice Presidents remain, with the exception of Alan Biddulph who unfortunately
but understandably decided to retire. Club members expressed their Thanks to
all officials and especially to Alan for his many years of service to the Club.
On
25th / 26th October, Denise Hurst and Bob Norton attended
the re-union in Banbury of their CTC A2M (Atlantique to Méditerranée) Tour last
summer, of which Bob was the Leader. Thirteen riders enjoyed the good company
and the rides to Stratford-upon-Avon on Saturday and into the Cotswolds on
Sunday, in fine autumn weather.
