Congleton Cyclists enjoy 100 mile
Reliability Ride
Last
Sunday, 6 Club Members enjoyed the Club’s 100 mile ride through Staffordshire, Shropshire
and Cheshire which was held in glorious sunshine but in very cold conditions
(sub-zero for the first 3 hours); this being the reason why so few riders
turned up.
Denise
Hurst, Peter Nelson and Mark Tilstone plus 2 guests from Leek C.C. (Ruth and
John) started at 8 a.m. Karl Austin, Andy Malbon and Neil Skellern started at 9
a.m. These hardy souls received much appreciated support from the Organisers,
Joyce Austin and Beryl Swash, who drove from place to place to provide welcome
food and hot drinks and to carry spare clothing.
Joyce
Austin’s photograph shows such a feeding station / refreshment stop at the Middlewich
canal near Stokenhall – from L to R: Peter Nelson, Andy Malbon, Karl Austin,
Carole Pardoe (met en-route), Denise Hurst and Beryl Swash. Neil Skellern and
Mark Tilstone had already disappeared into the distance.
