Cyclists
endure 80 and 110 mile Reliability Rides
Six club
members rode the Lyme Racing Club’s Reliability Rides. Neil Skellern, Karl
Austin and Mark Tilstone were in the “fast group” and Mary Renshaw, Bob Norton,
Peter Nelson, Les Lancaster and Brendan Mc Gloughlan were in the “slow group”.
On 3rd
February, the 80 mile ride through Staffordshire and Shropshire was held in
very windy but dry conditions. On 10th February, the riders enjoyed
glorious weather although it was bitterly cold for the first two hours.
However, the “fast group” on the 110 mile ride to Llangollen had to contend
with foggy and cold conditions between leaving the 80 mile route at Wem and
returning to Ellesmere. Meeting old friends and acquaintances from other clubs
in the Stoke area and from as far a field as Yorkshire and the Midlands always
adds spice and interest to these rides.
